After you’ve completed your household duties of the day and the little ones are fast asleep – it’s time to slow down and unwind. Today I’m sharing a relaxing and realistic self-care plan for your night routine.
We sometimes idealise the self-care habits we see online and imagine ourselves indulging in a luxurious pamper session.
But by the end of a long day of tending to the children and home, we’re exhausted. So the idea of sinking on to the sofa and scrolling our phones, becomes more alluring than a 12 step pamper routine.
Rest assured, there is a middle way, you can have a self-care routine that suits you.
Reserve some time each night to take care of yourself. You’ll feel rejuvenated and ready to face the next day with a patient and confident demeanour.

Disconnect
The first step is to put your phone aside and switch off any other devices, to eliminate potential distractions.
Disconnecting from the digital realm will help to put your mind in a more relaxed state.
Although this may not feel like “pampering”, it’s essential. Due to the copious amounts of information we consume on a daily basis, we are often highly sensitive and overstimulated.
Plan for Tomorrow
Now you’ve set your phone aside but your mind is still in work mode, you can plan for the day ahead. Getting any last minute things done beforehand helps save you time and energy.

Set a Calming Environment
Dim the lighting and diffuse some essential oils to add a soothing ambiance to your space. Lavender is a good option, as it has calming effects and helps to promote better sleep.
You may also like to spend some quality time with your spouse and converse freely about your day.
Shower
A warm shower at the end of the day can help relax your muscles, and prepare your body for a good night’s sleep. You can even add a few drops of essential oil to the shower to enhance relaxation.
Post Shower Routine
Skincare
This depends on your skin type. Whether it’s normal, oily, dry, combination, or sensitive. Figure out a skincare routine that works for you.
Keep it as uncomplicated as possible, with just a few basic products. You can also incorporate a face mask and facial scrub once a week, for softer, clearer skin.
Body Care
Before applying your usual body lotion, use some magnesium spray for daily wellness. Or you could opt for a 2-in-1 magnesium body butter for your ease. This body butter can be used on your entire body, applied to specific areas of pain, or massaged into the soles of your feet before bed.
Get Cosy
Brew some herbal tea such as chamomile.
Put on your favourite pyjamas and snuggle up under a warm, cosy blanket.
Relax With a Book
Spend just a little while reading a nice book. Then finish your night with sincere prayer and of course, don’t forget to brush your teeth.
